in a choice for the voters between the romney obama agenda. >> gregg: all right. carl cameron, thanks very much. >> president obama arriving in las vegas moments ago. we'll have a live report a bit later in the newscast. >> heather: meantime, controversy growing over the deadly attack in libya. into new calls investigation in assault that killed chris steens and three other americans. more questions are being raised over the obama administration's official version of what happened. top lawmakers are demanding answers. steve centanni is live in washington with more on this. >> reporter: one is bob corker a member of the foreign relations committee saying the benghazi incident is more bizarre every day. he wrote a letter to the director of national intelligence. it says 18 days ago the administration judged it was appropriate for our consulate to be lightly guarded. what has changed in libya such a short time that our f.b.i. agents, most elite personnel cannot safely enter the city? meantime, republicans kept up the drum beat on the administration's response and the president's foreign polic
have been looking into and reporting on some of romney's debate preps. you're right, carol. you mentioned that romney was with gop senator rob portman. i got to tell you, it is surprising that romney wants to hang out with portman still since he has been playing president obama. by all accounts in the mock debates, portman has been very, very tough on romney, to prepare him for the real thing. portman is the go-to guy for republicans for debate prep. he's worked with republican candidates since 2000 and i spoke with senator portman in an exclusive interview about what he does to prepare to prepare romney. >> how they're likely to express themselves, what the body language is going to be like, try to imitate the person, but you try to give a fair presentation, you know to whoever you're working with as to what they're likely to do. >> now, portman and romney's other members of his inner cile have been doing mock debates with him on and off for about a month. he had his first round of debate boot camp at mock debates in vermont during the democratic convention and he's had it seve
in 2008 and i am doing it again in 2012 because i believe this man, met romney, is right person with the right experience at the right time to get america back is right track. america needs met romney. hip-hop i want you to go out and fight for these principles we believe i want you to stand up to make that 21st century another american century. i want you to share that message with your friends and neighbors and family members and the people you work with and the people you go to church with and with strangers on the street. it is time for all good men and all good women to come to the aid of their country. we have 33 days to get america back on the right track. so, augusta county, tonight, i want to ask you can, the only question that matters. 33 days away from is election day and i want you to shout at some of the people in stanton and harrison bergeron and waynesboro and stewart's strap here you -- the question is this. are you all ready to what? [applause] car you all ready to lead? are you all ready to win? heckling let's go get this thing done. thank you, everybody. god b
.z., right? >> no, absolutely not. and the thing is, is that mitt romney really seems to fungd well when he's coming from behind. so if there's anything that would give him any hope it's that when he seems to be coming from someone else has momentum, he can take that momentum, he seems to perform much better than has a front-runner. if he has any hope going in knowing expectations are extremely low for him, if he's able to take that and be aggressive and attack president obama, because let's face it the president is still extremely fuller inable. the only reason why romney isn't winning is because romney's been an absolute idiot the past two to three weeks. so if he can correct that by being aggressive, perhaps he can swing the momentum back to his favor. >> we like to use the word missteps. anna, let me give you the final word. president obama is vulnerable. he's been called a wonderful orator, that he mesmerizes audiences when he speaks, but he is vulnerable. where does romney have to strike him? >> look, i think romney needs to do what he did in the last two debates of the primary in flo
, where do you think the presidential race is right now? >> i think mitt romney is looking very good. that's why the obama administration didn't want to run against mitt romney. he was clearly the most threatening of the republican candidates. i think he's the strongest candidate against obama. it's hard to take out an incumbent. republicans have only done it one time before in the last 100 years. when reagan beat carter. i guess isn't the last time it's happened when clinton took out bush, right? so it's curious, for example that there were 70 million viewers of that debate the other night, the highest it's been since 1992, the last time an incumbent was taken out. i think that's because people are uncomfortable with obama but if they're not political nuts, like we are, they haven't been paying attention, haven't been watching all the debates and they just want to see who the challenger is and whether they're comfortable with him. and i think after wednesday night, everyone's pretty comfortable with mitt romney. >> you were early, looking back, i was reading back on your twitter feed last
-building... right here at home. it's time for a new economic patriotism, rooted in the... belief that growing our economy begins with a strong... thriving middle class. read my plan. compare it to governor romney's,and decide for yourself. thanks for listening. i'm barack oma and i approve this message. >> you are watching abc 7 news at 5:00, on your side. >> today marks the tenures since the terrifying day when there was a shooting -- today marks 10 years since the terrifying day when there was a shooting. john allen muhammad his wife is telling a story. brad? >> yes alison, 10 years ago i stood in this spot. the second shooting took place at that gas pump. the police tried to figure out what on earth was going on with the so-called d.c. sniper. today, we had a chance to talk to mildred the ex-wife of john allen muhammad the d.c. sniper. she said that day she was terrified, like everybody else. she had no idea her husband was involved. one man was killed as he cut grass along rockville pike. later, one other was killed as he pumped-up -- pumped gas. another was killed at leisure world plaza. f
today is that mitt romney will actually do his debate walk through tomorrow over at the university of denver, so he'll be working on this all, you know, basically right up until the last moment. he had his top surrogates on the campaign trail and romney has an event later on today in littleton, colorado. paul ryan has been pretty busy, almost nonstop, out on the campaign trail the last couple of days. and so, you know, i think he'll let his surrogates do the talking for him until the debate gets started. one other thing we heard from kevin madden yesterday on the campaign plane heading into denver yesterday, brooke, you heard over the weekend, chris christie saying that this race is going to be turned upside down that romney will have such a strong performance that it is going to be sort of a game changer. i asked kevin madden about that yesterday, and he said he doesn't think that the campaign doesn't think that one event, one moment during these debates is going to decide and determine everything. they just don't see it that way. they like christie's enthusiasm, they say they're
they blame the rich people? they have money, too. right now i'm supporting mitt romney. host: let's get a response. guest: i am sorry that you lost your job. what is says is our economy is not on track. president obama knows that and his message is, "give me four more years." the message from mitt romney is, "get out of here. you have had enough time." that will be a crucial issue. people are looking for those messages. guest: it tends to get lost. not blaming that on the financial mess. of course it will affect him and his political outlook and his vote if he has felt the sting of this recession and getting laid off. a lot of people have been out of work for a long time. some of the jobs may not be coming back. anybody from the romney camp may be looking for this caller. guest: lois romano was talking about the people that lost jobs mostly were white men. i think those are the votes that are in jeopardy. republicans have traditionally gone towards republicans anyway. he has the ability to capture your vote. host: lauren ashburn is the editor in chief of "daily download." howard kurtz i
